Rafael Perea de la Cabada: Alien Heartland

"Alien Heartland" presents a retrospective of Mexican-American artist RaRafael Perea de la Cabada, Los Vuelosfael Perea de la Cabada.

Born in Mexico City, Perea spent the first half of his life in his native country before coming to California to earn a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting at UCSB. This exhibition includes drawings, prints, paintings and sculptures exploring themes of contemporary Mexican-American culture. Perea's expressive artwork is held in museums and private collections in California, Mexico, Puerto Rico and several countries in Europe.

Mexican Prints: Selections from the Gil Garcia and Marti Correa de Garcia Collection

"Mexican Prints" showcases the holdings of local collectors Gil Garcia and Marti Correa de Garcia. Focusing on prints from the mid 20th century, the collection emphasizes the vital graphic aesthetic of Mexico with work by artists including Francisco Toledo, Rufino Tamayo, Gunther Gurzso and others. This collection of 20th century Mexican prints celebrate the international influence and sophistication of modern Mexican art.
